using joystick in LEGO MINDSTORM software

I want to ask if there is a posibility to use or programe a joystick (playstation controller) to control the movements of the motors using the EV3 brick in LEGO MINDSTORM software?

I don't think there is a simple way to do this.  Doing some searching the closest thing I've found is this: http://www.philohome.com/nxtjoystick/joystick.htm

It's not exactly controlling the EV3 with a joystick, but it is similar. 

I have read about people doing this using 3rd party software packages, take a look at the following video:

In the notes they describe how they did it, they used 3rd party software.  There are a variety of other packages like that online, but I haven't seen anyone doing it from within the LEGO MINDSTORMS software.
