One other thing I've noticed that has occurred after the upgrade is that the main forums page (forums.ni.com) is sometimes very slow to load. The browser status bar at the bottom says "Waiting for forums.ni.com". I have noticed that if I finally get the page and then immediately do a refresh the page loads quickly. If I try to load the main page "after a while", like say, maybe 30 minutes later, then it takes a long time. I'm wondering how much of a factor the browser is in this case. I'm using Firefox 3.6.3.

Thanks!

Lithium has confirmed this is a known issue and that it is scheduled to be fix in an upcoming minor release (much like the stretched avatar problem).

Thanks,

Laura

When editing a post, I can click "View discussion in a popup".

This works fine in IE8.

However, in Chrome the discussion opens in a new tab instead. A new tab is not a popup... (of course I can rip out the new tab to make a new browser window, but that's an extra step ;)).

Hi Everyone,

Here is my next batch of updates:

  • Darin - can you give me the URL that includes the advanced search that you are using? That way I will know exactly what the issue is.  In addition,  I hope to turn on a better search experience in the semi-near future and this will help me test it.
  • altenbach - we do have the ability to use blogs, but are not doing so.  Because we have the ability, the section shows up.
  • Ravens Fan - you can also find autosaved drafts on your profile page
  • Wolfgang - I will submit a suggestion to add back the horizontal lines
  • Kees - Other users float their favorite boards to the top of the page which may be a good option for you if you have favorites.  You can find the option in the "Board Options" menu when viewing a particular board.  You also could Bookmark your favorite boards from this same menu.  You can then easily access your bookmarked boards in the "Go To..." menu in the upper right corner of the page.  The advantage to the bookmarks is that you can access them from any page.
  • I will suggest a change away from displaying "0 Kudos"
  • tst - thanks for the information about fonts, I will play around with my settings to see what happens.  Also, I will need to open up the example task force board so that it can be unfloated for you.  Is it OK if I just do this for you?
  • Ben - statistics now include comments / ideas from the idea exchange (which is how our ranks have always been calculated).  Ideally, some day we will be able to see the break down between all the the activity on the user profile page.
  • Saverio - I just used both IE8 and FF3 to look at the main page with font set to small in my profile.  I can see a slight difference between boards that have unread posts and those that do not in both browsers.  I think it could be more noticeable though, so I will report it.
  • Ray F - That paste window has existed for a little while.  It's specifically useful for pasting from Microsoft Word - it keeps the formatting without adding all sorts of behind the scenes characters.  You should not have to use it to paste every time into the editor
  • Saverio - I'm not sure about the performance issues you've been seeing.  Does it happen regardless of network or computer? I will be performing an analysis on the performance now that we are upgraded with help from our network team.

Regards,

Laura

Today it gives me exactly 500 posts, before it was 531.  Searching for Ben's posts gave me exactly 10000.

Sure, but others might have it as well. It's probably best if we cooridnate this by email.

It appears that the forum has exposed a feature that is only one click away (previously, it was two clicks away). It's a loaded gun with a feather trigger pointed directly at my ability to know what I have read and what I haven't.I assume it's an irreversible blanket applied to all posts, but I have never clicked it in fear of "losing my spot".

It also appears there is an issue with posting the same image twice. My post editing window did not show two images like the forum view above shows.
