Could we have a custom "contact" message

If the profiles page, there is a contact area. I guess that's what strangers use to send me PMs.

I would love to be able to place a quick personalized message there that users can read before contacting me.

Could that be configured?

For example:

A message from Altenbach:

"PMs are only OK for messages of personal nature.

If you have a LabVIEW problem, post it in the forum.

If you need help with a big project, hire a contractor."

or similar. 😄

Even better would be a personalized message popup window once they press the "send user a private message" link.

It should have an "Agree" and "Cancel" button and it should only go to the composition screen if the user accepts.

Are you getting many private messages?

For now, you could put a message in the "About Me" section along the same lines.  I could also move the About Me just above the Contact section so that they would be more likely to be viewed together.  If you look at my profile, I have information in the About Me section so you can see its current location.  You may need to change some privacy settings to get the section to show up correctly.

Less than 1/day so it is not (yet) a serious problem. Still, most messages are for stuff that belongs in the forum.

I would love the popup idea. 😉
