I just posted a comment here from Firefox:
All of the linefeeds were removed when posting, like my iPhone used to do. If this looks normal than it is all good, if there are no linefeeds then arggh. (Maybe particular to the Idea Exchange). I have a macro to add a linefeed, but that was not working as well.
Edit: Looks normal and the macro worked. When I next comment on a whacky idea I'll see if it is peculiar to that board.

Happenned again here on the idea Exchange.

OK this is getting annoying. On the Idea Exchange only I get the following:
No toolbar, and every time I change tabs it reloads the page and loses my text. When I am done with the (insightful as always) comment, I post and immediately all of the linefeeds are gobbled up. This happens in IE8 and Firefox, only on the Idea Exchange.

Hey Darin,
That's interesting. What OS are you using? And is your macro working okay when you post to the forums? What's in your macro to insert the linebreak? I haven't seen the same behavior switching tabs on Idea Exchange in Chrome, Firefox, or IE9.

Win7 64-bit Firefox 8.0.1 (same for IE8). When I try the quote button in the IE I get the following:
Exception ID: 3D5704E9
Please click the Back button on your browser.
The one macro I have is for a non-breaking space in html which I use to put linefeeds in on my phone. It does not work either on the IE, I can select it, but it does not show up.

OK now IE8 is also infected with the missing toolbar/ linefeed removing behavior when posting comments to the Idea Exchange.
Having run out of browsers to switch to, I found a workaround. For some reason I can edit the mangled post and the editor then works normally.

In the last few days this started happening again in the Idea Exchange - the toolbar does not appear and the linefeeds I add are removed when I submit the reply. I then need to edit it to put them back in.
Firefox 11.0, Win 7.
Anyone else?

I have been beaten into submission and have accepted this behavior as a way of life. Yes it is still there for me. Other features come and go, but this is one thing I can count on around here. (Trying really hard to see the positive).

I'll flag Lithium to let them know this is occurring again.

Followup - I noticed this wasn't happening in other PCs, so I looked at the variables and found that the ad blocker was to blame. I guess it didn't play too nicely with the new version of FF. Setting it to disabled in the forums fixed the problem.
