How are "Hot Ides" on the idea exchange sorted?

Solved!
Go to solution

Looking at the hot ideas on the idea exchange I am trying to figure out how they are sorted. It doesn't seem to be by the number of kudos or the date posted.

Edit: I see the "New", "Most Recent" and "Most Kudos". My question specifically pertains to "New". What does that mean and how is it different from "Most Recent"?

You're correct - Hot Ideas are not sorted by Kudos or date but rather by some algorithm that determines activity. It seems to me that it mostly shows relatively new ideas that got Kudos in a short amount of time.

I think your question about New / Most Recent has to do with the "View Ideas..." box on the right side. Wow, I didn't realized how confusing that was!

Anyhow, "New" is the status that ideas are in when they are just posted.  Because we haven't moved the statuses on many of the ideas yet, most ideas are still in the status of New.  You'll see the other statuses are In Development, In Beta, Declined, Duplicate, and Completed.  "Most Recent" refers the the ideas that have most recently been posted. They will be in the status of New by default when they are posted.

Let me know if that clears things up. Also, I'm now entertaining ideas of how to make that clearer in the "View Ideas" box.

Thanks!

Laura

I realized later that New was not a sort option. From where it is located next to the sort options it looks like it at first glance.

I really like the concept of using an algorithm to detrermine "hot ideas".
