Logout if inactive time shortened again?

Since the upgrade it seems as though the Forum automatically logs me out sooner that it did before.  I have not timed it but it appears to be about an hour and a half.  Just long enough to go to lunch and do a bit of my real work before I get back to find that I have been logged out.

If I recall correctly we went through this after a previous upgrade or maintenance.  Then the timeout period was lengthened to a less annoying value.

Please restore it to a value similar to what we had before the upgrade.

Thanks,

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

The setting hasn't changed, I'm pretty sure it's been 90 minutes for quite a while now although I could be mistaken.  Once your session has expired after 90 minutes, you should now see a message at the top of the page telling you that the session is expired and giving you a link to log back in.  It only requires a click on that link, you will not have to enter your password. Do you see this behavior?  Closing your browser terminates your session and you will always have to log in when you open your browser again.

Thanks,

Laura

I have to agree with Lynn.

I have seen a change in how short a time it now takes to log me out.  I can't say that it is or isn't 90 min or that it was before, but I do know that I now have to log in practically everytime I'm away from the forum, without closing the browser.

In other words, something did change.

I have noticed a change as well... I used to NEVER have to click "sign in", but now I click it frequently (once or twice per day?). This is not at all a problem for me, it's just one click, but I'm confirming these other two guys' suspicions.

Hi Jack,

You described it perfectly.  Seems like you have to click "sign in" often.  Maybe 3 times in the morning and probably the same amount in the afternoon.

Laura,

The single click to log back in works.

Before the upgrade I am fairly sure the timeout had been made longer than 90 minutes - more like 3-4 hours.

I found an old thread (September 2008) where it had been shortened and then you moved to 90 minutes.  I could not find anything more recent.

My point is slightly different. I used to very rarely enter my user name and password to login. At the end of the day, with any one page still open (not signed out), I used to save the tabs before closing. The next day if i click any mail that have received from ni it automatically signs in and i can type a message. Now I cannot do that.

I am seeing the same issue of the forum logging me off. Before the upgrade I logged in, in the morning and was never logged off all day. Now I have to log back in regularly.

So concidering that we are now being kicked-off nad have to log back in...

Is it a mystery why the log-ins are now bogging down?

Give the authentication servers a break and set the log out for eight hours.

Ben, muks, are you actually having to type your credentials back in, or simply click "Log In"?
