Hello all,
I wanted to post a quick update. While our initial timeline was changed due to multiple factors, we are moving forward with a specific effort we believe will improve the customer experience online and offline. This effort will allow you to navigate between valuable NI Community resources such as forums and blogs with the same online identity. For that to take place, some user aliases will be affected by these improvements very soon.
Affected users have been contacted via email and have been asked to edit their aliases by September 6, 2012. If no action is taken, NI will update the affected aliases on September 7, 2012. Alias changes will be visible the next time you log in to ni.com.
New Alias Parameters:
- No spaces
- Maximum length of 100 characters
- No special characters (Ex. , : / ? & # " > < { } )
How to Update Your Alias:
1. Log in to ni.com/profile
2. Select the edit button at the top right
3. Go to My Information and update the alias field with the new parameters
Example:
Before Sept. 7: Old Alias
After Sept. 7: New_Alias
Thank you all for your understanding and participation in the NI Community. We are excited to continue to work to improve your experience on ni.com.
Best regards,
Jordan

Not Happy
A space seems to me to be acceptable in a Screen_Name. JustLikeA"Normal"Name

I'm sorry, Jeff 😕
Since we are trying to tie multiple platforms together to better the user experience, we've had to edit our alias creation criteria to the most conservative set of rules. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
On the bright side, I liked the creative alias Jeff·þ·Bohrer

Ok, it is now 3 months later and the old system is still in effect. Any further schedule estimates?
Also in the communities it says that I have "1 point".
What is a point? Where did it come from?

(who was not only incredibly inventive when I come up with my user name, but also show startling forethought - no space..)
