"read" or "unread", that's the question

For the last few days my read posts will constantly show up as unread again, even if I am the last person that posted in the tread and there is no new activity.

This is especially noticeable if I change computers. Last night, I looked at all my threads with new activity so they no longer show up as bold. As soon as I use a different computer, things are back to bold, no matter how often I refresh the page.

It seems it started around Jan 31. Threads before that remain read (i.e. not bold), unless there is new activity. Later threads repeatedly falsely show up as bold.

Maybe I'll clear the browser cache to see if it fixes things.

I was just about to complain about the same thing.  I even cleared all of my browsing history and still having the issue.

Hi @altenbach,

We're having a few 'odd' things happening, including this. I've opened a ticket with the team to check the systems. I don't think it's your cache, I think it's something on the system side.

More information as I have it.

Similarly, today I got a red "2", telling me that I have two new notifications. There were no new notifications!

I also encountered "wierd" forum behaviour the last days.

• there was a notification for a whole day indicated, but then there wasn't a new notification in the notifications list
• long delay for the virus scan of attachments, even for small files (like those two attachments here, it took about 1min to scan each file)
• right now the image isn't embedded inside the message anymore when I copy the link of the attachment into the message text box (seems to be related to the filename, so below)
• often problems of apparently unread messages even though I KNOW I already read them

Example:

I merged these two messages and so I read them both, but this thread is shown as unread for me…

Both attachments are the exactly same, I just renamed the file. "check.png" is embedded inside the text, "check (2).png" is NOT embedded!

I see the same thing, including in this thread. It happens even when it has been marked as read. For example, earlier today I read this thread and then went back to the board and saw that the thread was marked. Logging in again now the thread again appeared with all messages unread.

Similarly, I marked the LabVIEW board as read and now saw a couple of hundred posts which were marked as unread.

I last noticed the issue yesterday first thing in the morning.  Therefore, I am concluding you guys squashed the (very annoying) bug.
