NI 5102 Digitizer outdoor performance

Hi! I'm using a NI 5102 digitizer for data acquisition. In the office, with samples everything works properly, outdoors near my office keeps working ok. However, I've been trying to work far away form my office and a noise of high frequency resonance is interfering. I found in the manual that this equipment it is for indoors use only. Could someone tell me what is the reason for this limitation?
Thank you!

Hi Sara,

The reason why the specification sheets for many of our devices state "Indoor Use Only" is for UL compliance.  Any use of the device in conditions other than those recommended in the documentation is at your own risk.

Having said that, I have a few questions:

At what frequency is the noise that you are seeing?
Are there any communications towers/equipment near your device?
Is your 5102 a PXI or PCI device?
What is the source of the signal that you are trying to measure?

Temperature may also be an issue.  Is your computer in the sun?  The inside temperature of a case can easily exceed the design specs for the board if outdoors.
