Hello all,
Documentation is hard to locate for NI-Scope 21 and so when we decided to get the extended memory option on the newest PXIe-5122, I decided I would review some pretty old notions that I have about the usable amount of memory of this card.
In short, if I want to allow the user to selectan option for the lengthiest single channel, externally triggered acquisition possible. If the user requires more that that, then the software selection denotes stream use is required and streaming is set.
As this data will always be further processed in the frequency domain, we would prefer 2^n memory depth options but we are willing to pad with zeroes prior to file storage to get that last "almost long enough" dataset and still avoid data streaming.
From my past, I recall that the 32MB / channel could only really return a 16,000,000 sample size. Now I am wondering if
1) that has changed
2) if I was mistaken on the max depth for this kind of single channel application
We do not currently nor plan to use multiple record functionality.
Footnote: In our case, externally triggering means PXIe backplane routed trigger routed from a PXIe-5442 marker event. The 5442 is itself triggered from PFI0 if that matters. We are using TClk to sync the 5122 and 5442 within the same chassis (1062Q, 1082, 1095 on hand).
Thanks in advance.
