Hi,
I have a newport 74041 and I use a GPIB to connect it to PC. LabView recognizes the hardware but it doesn't accept any commands. (I'm not sure if I send them correctly.)
I have the driver cd in which there's a .exe file that I can automate the machine, but I cannot find the VIs. Is there any way I can integrate that exe file into a Labview program? Also it's pretty clear that this program's coded on labview. So if you'd know a way to reverse its extension in a way, that would be appreciated.

Well the device does not show in the Instrument Driver network. The MFG claims that "Labview vis" exist but can't correctly spell "LabVIEW" so the vi's they have aren't likely to be much use. They might be GREAT but, in my experience, uncertified (and un submitted) drivers tend to be of dubious quality. The fact that the company has heard of but can't spell LabVIEW scares me.
Contact the sales dept for the programming manual for the device (I HATE it when you can't download it) And this one might be a "roll your own" driver. It seams like a fairly simple device though so a certifiable LabVIEW Plug and Play (Project style) driver should take about x to y hrs per protocol after you get the manual.
