Cannot Recognize GPIB:VXI instrument HP8312A

I am having trouble with the Measurment and Automation Explorer recognizing the my HP E8312A pulse pattern generator instrument.

Currently, my hardware setup has a HP E1401B Mainframe, with a HP E1406A command module controlling the HP E8312A. For the HP E1406A, I have the logical address set to 0 and the servant area at 255. For the HP E8312A the logical address is 112, so this is a multiple of 8. I also have installed the plug&play driver, the HP 81100 soft panel instrument and Agilent IO libraries. The Agilent IO libraries is also not able to recognize the E8312A.

Under the Measurements and Automation Explorer, it recognizes the command module HP E1406A, and I am able to communicate with it.

My computer is running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Hi,

It put together a Agilent VXI mainframe system several years ago and vaguely remember having to install drivers for my E8480A switch cards to the E1406A in order for that device to recognize the switch cards. I think I intalled the drivers over rs232. Have you talked to anyone at Agilent tech support?; they're actually very helpful. The mainfame had a primary address of 9 and the other devices had secondary addresses of 96 and 111.
