Hi,

On the image you posted, all of the settings are grayed out and there's a message about properties only being changed by an administrator.

That could be the source of your problem. Try reinstalling 488.2

You should be able to change the settings. See my image.

PLL_Geek, were you ever able to resolve this issue?

First off, it is perfectly normal for the Ready LED on your device to be yellow. Yellow indicates that it is connected to a USB 2.0 port, and green indicates that it is connected to a USB 1.1 port.

As for it not seeing your instrument, if you are still having the issue could you perform a capture using NI I/O Trace and attach it to a reply? The following KB describes this process:

Hello Everyone,

Yes, I finally got it to work. It was very stupid. I went to a friends house and tried the same thing with his NI USB interface. Same problem. Used another brand interface and it worked. After a while and a lot of head scratching, we tried a GPIB calbe from the dongle to the instrument and it worked fine !!. I assume plugging the dongle directly into the instrument did not result in a good connection. Thanks again.

Usually instruments should work with the GPIB-USB-HS plugged in directly. It may have been a connection issue, but increasing the GPIB cable length also has the effect of slowing down the GPIB handshake. We occasionally see older instruments that make some incorrect assumptions about timing when handshaking, where increasing cable length could make a difference. I would expect an HP instrument to handshake correctly, but it may be worth seeing if there is a firmware update for the instrument, just in case.
