Okay first my setups
Development PC
I'm running labview 2010 Pro
i7 core, XP SP3
Test PC
2010 runtime
Dual core 2.66GHZ
XP SP3
I'm having a really slow startup on my app on the Test PC. Like almost a minute. It sits there on the taskbar and does not come up. I click on it and nothing happens. I checked task manager and the CPU is at 1% and the app is using about 40MB ram.
I install the exe on the development machine and it comes up within seconds of clicking it? I know I have an i7 competing against a dual core. But when I see 1% I don't see it as a problem. My development PC runs about 4%-10% when the program is running. Maybe 8%-14% on test PC once its up.
The App itself is basically like Intel's UPNP device spy with some automation. All network communication.
Is there anyway to debug this? I know I can add to my app to see what's going on while its running. But what do I do while its starting up?
One other thing, I have is windows IIS installed on the development PC that I was using to send updates to network devices. The Test PC does not have IIS. But my app only checks to see if its running and then moves on. When I turn IIS off on my development PC the app still starts normal.
please help. I'm really not liking 2010 so far. I miss 8.6

Okay so i installed on more machines and they worked fine. Came right up.
So i went back to the test PC and replaced it with a new one, quad core. After the installer was done it asked to reboot for changes. A reboot looked as if the pc was never going to finish. It started to shut down and then would say installing updates and repeat the installing updates part. I turned the pc off and powered back on. That pc took 2minutes to start the app. Finally i connected the internet to the router on the network and the software app started right up.
Is labview embeding some network check? It works like clock work. i unplg the network and it takes forever to start. I plug the network in and it comes right up...
My setup has a routerfor DHCP and a 48 port POE network switch. I do not have the need for internet access. But it looks like im going to be forced to leave it connected to make this start up normal.
p.s. i did unplug the internet while the app was starting and i got some visualstudio.net message error. I dont have visualstudio installed on this pc. Maybe labview runtimes installs it? I did not see it in add/remove programs. This pc is has a fresh xp install with some standard software apps. I'm sure i have .net installed though.
Any ideas? Is labview tracking us secretly 🙂 Im getting wireshark out tomorrow to see what the network traffic looks like.

Thanks Ravens Fan,
I've looked through that thread you posted and it seems there problem is labview itself wont start unless there is internet.
I have compiled exe code that does start after a couple minutes but with internet it comes up right away.
