2012f5 wont install on service pack 2

Solved!

I just installed update f5 for LV 2012. I built an installer for program to run on XP. The installer fails and requests service pack 3. This was working and the installer build indicates service pack 2 and above. What happened?

"Service Pack 3?"  For Windows XP?

Yes Bill, The installer is throwing an error that it requires XP service pack 3. First time I've seen this, must be a bug in f5

The LabVIEW 2012 Readme indicates that it requires Windows XP SP3.

You can see the readme online attached to this KB: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0A1B3DA42924DC3A86257A0F0052B09B

I don't know why it let you install LabVIEW on an XP machine without SP3 in the past, but this behavior is consistent with the documentation that shipped with the initial release of 2012.

Why does the app builder still list XP Service Pack 2 and later?

Also note that the LV 2013 also lists XP service pack 2 and above in the installer builder.

That sounds like a problem with app builder! Where are you seeing this indicated? I'm having a hard time locating it.

Also, the 2013 Readme also includes XP SP3 specifically: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/289B37D81FBB0A7286257B82006B084F

I have filed CAR 429902 documenting this behavior.

For now, assume that XP computers do require SP3.

Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks,

It was an unwelcome surprise, I'll deal with it by downloading the SP3 update.

Cheers
