Activate Serial Number

I have installed LabVIEW 2012, but it will not recognize my serial number so it will not activate it.  What do I need to do to get past this issue?

A good serial number?  Seriously, if it's a good serial number, it should activate.  What, exactly, does it say when you try?

It is a valid serial number on the box with the discs.  It says that it is not valid, and that it will not activate.

I have notices some issues lately with activation.  I would call NI directly and they can help.

Often that means that the serial number has already been activated on the maximum number of machines for the type of license.  (three for a named user license, one for a machine license)  What type of license?  Where else is it activated?
