I have a Microstrain V-link woreless voltage need. The product sheet says it is executable with LabVIEW. What are the requirements for that? What kinda DAQ we'll be needing at that time?????? any advice..

I did go thru the website. It says I need a software development kit which helps in executing with labview.

What i wud like to know is, when we connect receiver to the computer to get the signal from wirelss V-link, do we have to have any special DAQ to analyse the signals??

Do we have to have full version of LABVIEW to get the data???

Also, can you answer me the question in my other post, 'Temperatures of Thermocouple'.

Your sensor is the DAQ device. You have a reciever/gateway at the pc end. I understand that the connections to the gateway from the pc can be rs-232, Etherenet, or USB.

The version of LabVIEW you require will depend on the type of anlaysis you need to do.

I came across a webcast at http://zone.ni.com/wv/app/doc/p/id/wv-172 that you should review for some basics.

I am the Support Lead at MicroStrain. The V-Link is a small wireless node in the Agile-Link family of wireless products. It transmits 8 data channels; 4 differential for strain gauges and the like, 3 analog channels for accelerometers and the like, and 1 channel of its own internal temperature. It uses the 2.4 GHz radio spectrum. It transmits its data to our accompanying base station connected to a host either by USB or RS-232. The data that arrives in the base station is digital. The system is operated by either software we provide or by an application written by the user. The software can be written in any language and especially in LabVIEW. This is their forum after all! In order to write your own application, you do need the Software Development Kit (SDK) which contains a complete Data Communications Protocol manual as well as sample code for many languages including LabVIEW 7.1. A DAQ is not required in the scenario I describe above. However, we do make several types of base stations and in particular, we make a stand-alone base station that has a digital connection to the host AND analog ports out the back. Here you are able to deploy the base station remotely after configuring it with the host. A DAQ would then become your acquisition instrument and NI makes the world's best! I hope I have not overstepped my bounds in this forum. My intention is not to use it as a selling platform but as a statement of fact and to provide support.

Nishant, did you ever figure out how to do this??? I am in the exact situation you are with the wireless Microstrain V-Link.  I do not want to buy the SDK after spending money on the sensors.

Nishant, V-Link is wireless DAQ. It works with Microstrain USB base station. The software is controlling through base station the V-link, in almost the same way as AgileLink software. First scan port com, then add the node address....

I don't know if you'd be providing any usefull information to Nishant considering he posted his question over 2 years ago!
