Array Mouswheel scroll causes labview crash (bug ?)

Dear community

We have observed a major problem in labview 2015 which can crash all the application or developement system (at least in our case)

Just build an array control (numeric or cluster). In this example a cluster array was used.

Then fill in some values into the elements.

Move your mouse pointer to a different position within the array (different array element).

Don't select the new posistion so the focus is still on the set element.

Then scroll your mouse wheel. This will crash your developement system.

No matter if the vi is in edit or run mode.

It also happens when you build an application.

There is also no difference if you set the properties of the array for mouse wheel events from on hoover, on focus or even none.

See the attached pictures to help to reproduce.

Also a simple test vi is attached which should be able to crash your developement system.

Thank you for your comments

I can confirm that this happened to me as well.

Wow pretty big bug I'd say.  Doesn't crash LabVIEW in 2013 SP1, or 2014 SP1, but does in 2015.

Thank you for the detailed description and example. It made it very easy to confirm the behaviour.

I will file a Corrective Action Request for this issue.

Thank you for reporting it.

Best regards,

Anna

CAR 543507 was filed for the behavior. This should only occur when using the mousewheel to scroll the array, so the workaround as it stands is to use other means to scroll. I will post again with updates when I have them!

Thank you for the CAR, but understand this can be a big issue due to the likelihood that an operator might use a scroll wheel, intentionally or not on an array, taking down the whole program.  I do hope that this gets resolved with a patch quickly.

Siana,

The links for the patch do not provide any means of getting the fix for those who are not using Windows, even though the Details document clearly specifes that the patch is available for Mac and Linux.  How do we gt it?

Using LV on the Mac since version 1.2
