I was able to unattach by putting the cursor over the end of the arrow that attaches to the comment. When it turns into the "up/down/left/right" arrows, I can drag on that and it will try redrawing the arrow, and then you can just drop it. Actually it works on both ends, you just need to put the cursor over one of the blue balls at each end.
