Block Diagram jumped to front panel issue

Hello,

I am new to LabVIEW 2011 running Windows 7.  I am running into a very annoying problem where I am working in block diagram clicking, wiring or scrolling with the mouse LabVIEW would then automatically jumped to front panel by itself.  I don't know if this is LabVIEW issue or Windows 7 issue or the usb mouse itself?

Please help.

Thank you so much in advance.

Is it possible that you double clicked on a control or indicator terminal?  When you do that, LabVIEW will jump to show you the corresponding control or indicator on the front panel.  The reverse (jump from front panel to diagram) happens if you double click a control on the front panel.

Thank you for your quick respond.

I don't think I have a reverse issue because when I am in the front panel click around LabVIEW doesn't automatically jump to block diagram.

I don't its a double click issue because sometimes when I am just crolling up and down it jumped to the front panel.

Also tried the double click between front panel and block diagram, LabVIEW doen't switch between the two panel?

Thank you again.

The only other thing I can think of is that you might be accidentally using shortcuts.  CTRL+E will switch between the front panel and diagram.  Also CTRL+Tab will cycle through the application windows.  There may also be other shortcuts I'm not thinking of.  Beyond that, I suppose there could be some windows or driver issue.  Do you notice that it happens more often when you're close to the window edges?  Are you only using mouse clicks, or does it happen when you are doing something with the keyboard too.  Is anything in particular highlighted or flash when it switches over?

Hey Marlin12,

Have you checked to make sure that your shortcuts are set to defaults?  You can check this by going to Tools>Options… and the selecting Menu Shortcuts and clicking Restore All?  Have you noticed this problem with any other programs or just LabVIEW?

Hello,

Thank you for your input.  I did followed your instruction and tried to restore menu shortcuts but it was grayed and disable which mean that none of the menu items have new keyboard shortcuts.

Thank you again,

Hey Marlin12,

Have you been able to try using a different mouse?  Have you seen similar behavior in any other programs?  When the window switches to the front panel does anything highlight or flash on the front panel?

Hell Kira,

I did switched out to a different mouse but still same results and I am agreed with the usb mouse might has something to do with it.  I do noticed that when I am trying to connect wiring that is when it flash to front panel frequently.

Thank you for inputs.

Do you have automatic tool selection on or off?
