Can I get a 'timetable' of what labview does when it runs the program? i.e. how long it spends doing each sub vi, and what order it does them in.
Cheers

Yes you can
Use Tools\Profile\Performance and Memory from the front panel menu.

Is there a way to find out what order the program performs sub functions?

The Trace Execution Toolkit will do that.
You could also use NI Spy to log the serial traffic.

Execution Trace Tool kit is an add-on. If you don't have it your pack of disks, ... maybe try a demo version?
NI Spy get loaded with LV (or one of those things).
Start >>> Programs >>> National intruments >>> NI Spy ?
