Cannot change window appearance back from custom settings

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

In the attached vi, I changed some custom settings in the vi properties category window appearance box. What do I need to do to change the settings back to "Top-Level Application Window"? Simply clicking on the respective radio button does not seem to work. Even after saving, closing the project and reloading the project and vi, the setting is still "custom". I am using LabVIEW 2011.

Thanks for your help.

Peter

Hello Peter,

I have opened your VI on my computer, and sure enough, I am seeing the same behavior of being unable to revert back to the "Top-level application window".

If you create a new VI, and change the Window Properties to Custom in the VI properties, are you able to replicate the same issue? If not, I would try to copy and paste all of your code from the current VI to the new one and see if you still have the same results.

The only other workaround is to set the customized settings back to their original parameters in order to replicate the top-level window settings.

It's a bug in the editor.  Here's what's happening:

In the 'Customize Window Appearance' dialog, 'Show vertical scroll bar*' is checked, and also grayed out.

When you click on 'Top-level application window' in the 'VI Properties' dialog, it's trying to uncheck  'Show vertical scroll bar*', but it can't because it's grayed out.

It's grayed out because you have splitter bars.  Apparently you checked 'Show vertical scroll bar*', then added the splitters.  You can fix it by removiing the splitters, selecting 'Top-level application window', then replacing the splitters.
