Capture a Real-Time Trace without stopping the VI?

I am trying to capture a Real Time Execution Trace without stopping my VI. I have tried something similar to that shown in the attached picture, where the user employes the boolean control labeled "Request RTETT" to trigger sending the trace to the Trace Tool. However so far it's not working. Does anyone know if this is even possible? If so how should I go about it?

My name is Kevin and I am an Application Engineer at NIUK. I don't see why you would not be able to capture the trace and then still run the VI, you will need to think of the archetecture and data flow.
