Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue where attempting to communicate with instruments either through MAX or my VI, included below, causes the computer to immediately crash. This happens when I click on the VISA I/O drop-down box in the VI's front panel or when I click "self test" or otherwise attempt to communicate with any instruments through MAX. The instruments are detected on MAX, but are unreachable.
I believe this problem started after I attempted to install Keysight software for an E3634A PSU. I reinstalled a previous version of the OS from before the Keysight software installation, but the problem was not resolved. NI's VISA is listed as the primary VISA in visa32.dll, and there are folders for NI-488.2 and NI-VISA under a folder marked "National Instruments Downloads" though only NI-488.2 appears as a folder in Program Files (x86). I have just restarted the computer after an installation of NI-VISA 16.0 for Windows, which the application stated installation was successful, but this did nothing.
I'm running LabView 2010 10.0f2 on Windows 7, and all communications are handled through an OEM NI GPIB-USB-HS adapter. An image of the blue screen is included below and appears to reference ni488k.sys.
I've run out of ideas regarding how to resolve this issue and would really appreciate further troubleshooting suggestions.
Thanks

NI-VISA 16 is only compatible with LabVIEW 2013 through 2016. The general rule is that it works with the matching version and the 3 before it.
Can you either use a newer version of LabVIEW or an older version of NI-VISA (and all other support software)?
Here's a handy chart to see which versions of NI-VISA work with which LabVIEW versions.
