Control of motor inverter

Hi all, i'm sorry if this seems a really daft question, but i'm very new to LabVIEW etc.

I'm trying to control a Teco 7300cv inverter, I only need basic start, stop, fwd, rev and speed control of the motor. I'm planning on using the analog input terminals, but would just like to check what signal I would need to send to control the speed. If anyone has an example vi it would be a great help.

I have had a look into this for you and think I need a little more information to answer you question/ provide you with an example.

 

I looked on Teco's website but didn't find much help on external control/special system programming. It says in the online manual for the 7300cv series that there are more details on this topic in the user manual supplied with the device. If you could tell me the precise signals/ levels needed by the device (binary codes/ PWM/ ...) to control it externally I may be able to give you some more advice.

 

Also what hardware are you going to be using to control the inverter?

Hi Jack,

I've attached a copy of the user manual, if thats of any use. From what I understand from the manual, start, stop, fwd and rev can be controlled via a relay on terminals S1 and S2.

Then speed is controlled via an analog input to terminal S3 (set 5-02 to 0016) I'm assuming the speed scales with a higer voltage. Does this sound right or am I way off?

 

The hardware given to me comprises a cDAQ-9188, with an NI 9263, (also have NI 9485). Trying to keep things as simple as possible, and would like to stay away from serial comms etc. if possible.

Forgot to mention, I assume i'm going to need to use an op-amp for the output from the 9263 ?

Hi Langy,

 

I'm afraid I can't give you any specific advice on the 7300cv hardware you are trying to control. Your assumption that speed would scale with voltage is a possibility but I would recommend you check what signals the device is expecting for external control with Teco.

 

If you can tell me what these signals are I would be more than happy to give you some advice and examples to get you started.
