Convert gvi to vi

Hi All,

I'm new to LabVIEW and would like to know is there any way to convert the .gvi to .vi? I'm using NI USRP but don't have the Communication Systems Design Suite.

Thanks,

Kash

Unfortunately, not.  But there should still be a library somewhere for the USRP in the current LabVIEW release.

That's sad.

yes, there is library in regular LabVIEW software to use the USRP and I have been using it so far.

The problem is I have couple of examples which have been written in Communication Suite and saved as .gvi and I would like to be able to open them in LabVIEW to understand the logic, then I can reconstruct them in LabVIEW. I actually don't need to convert it to .vi .

thanks

As was already mentioned gvi to vi conversion does not exist and possibly never will. The Communication Suite software is a new product from NI that builds on top of the ideas of LabVIEW but is considerebly different in many aspects.

But since you only want to see what the principle of the gvi examples is to somehow apply it to a LabVIEW program, what does prevent you to open this in the Communication Suite software and look at it there and then create the VI you would like in LabVIEW?

rolfk,

I don't have the Communication Suite software to be able to open them up. I didn't find the student license for it so I guess I have no option but to purchase the Communication Suite license.

Hi Khdl,

What are the examples? Are they from colleagues or from some other source? It is possible that the examples already exist in LabVIEW since many of the LabVIEW Comms examples have been ported from LabVIEW.

You should also double check with your department to see whether LabVIEW Comms is available. University's often have LabVIEW Comms included in their software package.

Cheers,

Michael
