Why not just use the systemexec.vi?

I guess the other way is a little more system-agnostic.

You are probably right. Frankly I don't see the need to worry about how or if my programs will operate under other OS's LabVIEW can run on. Since as a company we are locked into Windows and none of my programs are distributed outside the company.

But even if they were I see nothing wrong with a program only being able to run on one OS.

If buy a program for Windows I would not expect to be able to run that Windows program on a Mac or Linux box.

I agree.  That's why I wasn't so fanatical about my point being made.  😉

Interestingly enough, one of my system-agnostic applications actually used the System Exec.VI.  It was for an NTP server monitor to run in either a LINUX or Windows environment.  Since the NTP commands are CLI, System Exec was the way to go.

Sorry, I just figured it was implied so I just showed the specific instruction. 🙂 I should have shown or attached the whole VI.

You can use list directory VI in the File I/O >> Advanced
to find all files matching *.doc pattern, and then wire the
output to the Delete file VI.
Hope this helps

This thread brought me back to the old days!

Gorka at one time was the top contributor to the forums and had a whopping 500 posts! he was then passed up by LabVIEW_Guru who dropped out because he was getting an avalanche of "1-star ratings" which was the equivalent of a "thumbs down". He latter was involved in a fire that resulted in brain damage and was never the same again. Then it was just  matter of time for Dennis Knutson to gear-up and take over. Christian is still chasing his number years latter (I think).

So that is the history if any one ever unearths this post. Smiley Happy

Odd that if you hover over his name on that message, the popup says he has only 27 posts.  Click on the name and his profile page says 487.  I wonder why the huge discrepancy.  (His last post was 2002 and the last visit was 2004.)

He had multiple login accounts I suspect. The date of his reply in this thread, actually pre-dates the start of the Forums as we know them. I signed-up as soon as I learned about the forums but my first account was corrupted and I had to start over again with the account I have now.

Edit:

If you look at the URL for his first account it was "3334". my current one is "9539". The big one for Gorka was "11781" so he had to start over as I did.
