No problem! This is a strange way of communicating data for sure, but your video suggestion helped me to get a much better understanding of serial communication and its different implementations in LabVIEW. I have been able to resolve the issue and the program now seems to be working as intended.

I am aware yes, and when I first started to monitor the communication between the device and control software, this is what I did. I then needed a method of intercepting the data to be logged or processed, hence why I have chosen a port forwarder type solution coupled with a virtual port. But if you have any other suggestions, please send them through.
