Error -63044 occurred at niLvFpga_Open_roboRIO.vi

Hi there

I got follwoing Erorr messege:

"

Error -63044 occurred at niLvFpga_Open_roboRIO.vi

Possible reason(s):

NI-RIO: (Hex 0xFFFF09BC) The RIO server could not be found on the specified remote device. Ensure that NI-RIO software is installed and that the RIO server is running and properly configured.

For NI-RIO 2.3 and later, refer to Software>>NI-RIO>>NI-RIO Settings under the system in MAX.
Prior to NI-RIO 2.3, refer to Software>>NI-VISA>>VISA Options under the system in MAX

"

The device is a "NI roboRIO" running LabVIEW 2015, equipped with communication via CAN (motor control) and TX/RX for USB connection to a mobile phone (human interface for control). It is the brain of a mobile wheelchair powered by batteries.

Resetting RoboRIO or reflashing the whole system did not work. It is possible to access the damaged RoboRIO via USB and look at the logs. I have attached them below. There I see some kernel problems called "ubi_0 error".

I had a communication problem a few days before the fatal error. The communication to the mobile phone was interrupted, so the connection had to be restarted, and everything worked fine again for the next 3-5 minutes, until the next interruption. and then one day in the morning (first start after the day before) the system decided that it would not start again.
So my solution then was to replace the roboRIO with the fatal error with one of our spare roboRIO, but I hope the failure will not happen again. so I am curious about the root of this problem.

I am not sure where voltage spikes could be a problem for the roboRIO, or other issues (this is my best educated guess as the system has worked quite well for the last 6 years without any problems[age problems?]).

Does anyone have any idea why this might happen or what else I could try to save the roboRIO?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Best

Ben
