Error code "-2146827284" when trying to open an Excel workbook using ActiveX

Same problem with local hard drives.

But i figured out another solution. On some machines in our company we had a silent downgrade from 'MS Office Professional Plus 2007' to 'MS Office Standard 2007'. The ActiveX problem was fixed by re-installing some office-features (common used office-features and Add-Ins from the office installation menu).

Now everything works fine again.
