Get Type and Creator Function - Help Incomplete!

I got confused with the information provided inside the VI "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2016\vi.lib\Utility\libraryn.llb\Check if File or Folder Exists.vi".

In that, there is a condition checking for Type = LIBP, but when I referred to the Detailed Help for the VI "Get Type and Creator" to understand what this LIBP means, I could not find it there. The closest thing I could find is LIBR, which means a LabVIEW Library it seems...

Could someone shed some more light on these File Types, or let me know if I'm missing something very basic?! What does LIBP mean??

Hi parthabe,

from the comment I would guess it's the shortcut for "packed library"…

Best regards,

Why is LIBP not mentioned in the Help??

In other words, why is some file type which is not specified in the Help used inside the code, that too inside a VI (C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2016\vi.lib\Utility\libraryn.llb\Check if File or Folder Exists.vi) which is being shipped by NI?!

*.libp is for the Packed Project Library (LIBrary Packed).

Why is it not in the help?  Well, I would say you just found a bug.

Hi parthabe,

why is … not specified in the Help

Well, I think this happens from time to time, not just with this special function.

Maybe you should request a CAR?

GerdW

Hi parthabe,

send an error description to NI support and ask for a CAR number…

LabVIEW packed project libraries are project libraries that package multiple files into a single file with a .lvlibp file extension.

Can I add it to the monthly bug thread without a CAR# or NI acknowledging it?!

Hi Gerd,

Could you post here the NI UD Support's Email ID (because here in India, am only getting India Support Email ID when I search in Google) ?!

Hi Partha,

what is "UD support"?

Why do you search on Google? Why not look at the ni.com website under "Contact us"?

Best regards,
GerdW
