I was trying to follow the labview instructions for writing a string to spreadsheet "http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/38FFCE2D8F240DC286256E67007FCAEB" and I may have overwritten the original VI for the write to spreadsheet file and I do not know how to fix this

What's your LabVIEW version? Starting with 8.2 nothing needs to be done.
If you corrupted your LabVIEW installation, you should repair it. What is your OS? What exactly did you do?
