How do I add a shadow in my pictures

Can anybody help me how I can add a shadow in this picture?

Not sure what you needed exactly, but usually you can do it with blurring/masking combination, something like that:

Here image separated from background, then filtered with Low Pass (7x7), result masked, then filtered again with small kernel for antialiasing, then simply added with original image. You can use attached VI as starting point (IMAQ Vision required).
