I can't get a USB resource to show up in the I/O name list

I have sucessfully created a USB VISA resource. This shows up correctly in MAX and I can use MAX to talk to this USB device. However when I try to use it in my program, the I/O list never shows the USB device and when I type it in, it won't work.

I have recreated the resource multiply times. I have updated and reloaded NI-VISA once. I have tried to drag and drop the resouce from MAX. That didn't work.

I do have version 8.2 installed and it does work in 8.2. I can't use 8.2 because our motion control labview is version 7.1.

Hello,

Have you tried changing the options for your I/O Constant or control? The first thing to try would be to right click and select the option to "Allow Undefined Names." After that, you should also right-click again and  select Select VISA Class»I/O Session and then select the proper type for your device.

I have checked the "Allow Undefined Names." and selected the VISA Class»I/O Session as "USB RAW". This hasn't worked either.

Hello,

What version of VISA do you have installed? It is possible that the version you have may not be compatible with LabVIEW 7.1.

Yes, I just read through these articles and I can't see anything I have missed. What puzzles me is that it works just fine on another computer using Labview 8.2. I really don't want to have to reload this computer up with all the moition control and other boards we have installed in it. I'm don't know what else it could be other than a corupted file or something.

Thanks,

Richard
