IQEye702 Camera Driver

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi.

I'm trying to integrate an IQEye702 camera into an existing inspection application.  I'm using the ethernet connector to control the device.

Which will be a better approach TCP or VISA?

Best regards.

Is this a Gig-E camera? If so the best approach would be IMAQdx acquisition, which is not free however. If it is simple TCP/IP communication I would use the TCP/IP VIs because they are a bit easier to use once you know them. VISA adds an additional software layer to the whole picture. It's nice for instrument communicationn, especially for devices that have both Ethernet and RS-232, GPIB, or USB TMC connection but if it is for a pure TCP/IP device I go with the TCP nodes.

You can use TCP/IP or try Vision Acquisition Software, http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1641/lang/en, which currently support IP cameras.

Hello rolfk.

Thanks for your reply.

I started with VISA but I have switched to TCP as you have advised.  'Managed to establish communication with the camera, but still struggling with some of the commands, some of them are a bit tricky to send.

Thanks again and best regards.

Hello KateB.

I have Vision Acquisition 8.6.  Does this support IP cameras?

I will install it today.  Keep you updated.

Thanks and best regards.
