LLB XControl corruption of VI password

Solved!
Go to solution

I was working in LabVIEW 2015 SP3 on an XControl on my local hard disk yesterday at home (no others had access). Today, opening the .llb file containing it into LLB Manager and trying to open the facade VI resulted in the following message (i.e. error 89). Pressing OK then opening the .xctl file also displayed that message. Pressing OK did open the xctl project and all VIs could be opened but not the facade.vi which again displayed that message. Usually when LabVIEW crashes on Shutdown the night before it reports the problem the next day when started, offering to recover if something was open but it did not offer that today.

LabVIEW: Another user tampered with the VI password. An error occurred loading VI '...xctl:...facade.vi'. LabVIEW load error code 3: Could not load front panel. [OK]

A workaround is to follow this article to extract all files from the LLB to a disk folder afterwhich the facade VI opened without error (https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q000000YHxSCAW).
