LabVIEW FPGA development in Linux

Is there  a plan from NI to enable a move for FPGA development to Linux?

Seeing how Vivado performs significantly better on Linux than Windows, FPGA workloads would benefit from being able to be done on Linux (Not to mention the issue with long path names)

AFAIK, there is a compilation tool for Linux, but LabVIEW FPGA itself is not yet available for Linux, is that correct?

That's correct.  The tool chains from the FPGA vendors (i.e. Xilinx) have supported Linux for years.  You pose a very good question.

I know you can have a compile server run on Linux.  But I never played with it enough to figure out how it all works.

LabVIEW FPGA Module is not available for Linux Desktop but the LVFPGA Compilation Tools have been available for Linux for a very long time. See Setting up a Linux-Based FPGA Compile Worker
