Did you mean:

LabVIEW exits without notice

Hey LV_Pro, I have taken look at the log files that LabVIEW generates upon the crash. All files contain the following note:

c:\builds\penguin\labview\components\LVManager\trunk\10.0\source\drawmgr.cpp(3572) : DAbort: Couldn't create 24 pen Error ==0

Any ides what this could mean?

Thanks.

This page contains information and tips on troubleshooting LabVIEW error messages. You may not find the specific line, but the module will provide some indication of where the problem may lie. As noted, errors with drawmgr.cpp can be caused by video card drivers. As I pointed out, did you update your video card drivers? As the article points out, you may want to try reducing the graphics acceleration.

Another thing to try is to delete the LabVIEW preferences file (LabVIEW.ini - in the same folder as the LabVIEW executable) and have LabVIEW create a new one at next launch.

I also dived into this error log and I think I've found the most hilarious error message:

What error log? I saw no error log posted in this thread.

smercurio_fc thanks for replying. The video card drivers on my PC are all up to date. The problems I am having is with my main VI, not the executable though.

Well, as LV_Pro pointed out, the error logs are stored under the My Documents folder. I have often error messages, but they vary so much, that it's for me more a random thing.

I didn't know that and looked into these error logs. Sorry, not much relevance to the first post.

On the video card note, I don't really have a "heavy duty" one. It just an intergrated into motherboard intel-made one. The program exits primarily when the background image is set on the VI. This increases the size of the program from 100 KB to about 1.3 MB. Why would the background image cause this kidn of problem?

Eliminated backround image, but the problem still persists 😞

This is very frustrating. I also have custom icons displayed at the top of the toolbar when various VI's are running. To do so I call user32.dll and upload my custom icon. Could this be the cause of problem?

Hello,

There is currently a corrective action request (# 244244) that has been filed recently for the error you referenced.  It may help R&D further locate the cause of this error if you can attach the error log.  I can add that to our records.

Is this something that is only happening within a particular VI?  If so, can you attach that as well?

Tejinder G., sorry for a late reply, but I have discovered that the problem lies in the custom icon that I have in the top left corner of the LabVIEW toolbar. I don't have access to the error log files at this moment, but I will post them tomorrow asap.

Thanks.

Viktar

I have seen the same isues and more with Win 7.

See my post:

LabVIEW 2010 unstable on Windows 7

I do not have a work around.

Thanks for the attachment.  I'm glad that you were able to locate the source of the error and get rid of it.  If you are able to reproduce the same error consistently by removing the custom icon from your toolbar, I would appreciate it if you could attach that as well.  With that I can report this to R&D so that they may work on eliminating this issue in the future.

Again, thanks for the feedback!
