LabVIEW proverbs!

Here is another classic understatement;

In this thread

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=45982&query.id=0#M45982

we were congratulating Dennis for passing the 1000 answer mark (Note: answers not postings!)

Part of his reply was

"I had no idea I've been so chatty here."

That's (almost) my signature on LAVA forum!

One sticky point is trying to assign authorship to things like that, that's why I left out any sources. The first occurence of this proverb (that I am aware of) is one of my info-labview or usenet posts from way back in the last century. I actually got a private e-mail after my post asking permission to quote it in a presentation. I cannot say if it hasn't been used even before that, it seems so simple. 🙂

Christian, I can't resist to put a famous quote of yours in this thread:

"1" cannot be represented exactly in binary...

To be fair see the full context here.

You just had to bring that one up 😮
(I still get a chuckle everytime I read it :))

Ben, you should have the honnor of starting the thread when he reaches the 4000 mark.

You should quote what he said at the 1000 mark..

Thank you Ben and everyone else. I had no idea I've been so chatty here. It's been a great pleasure helping when I've been able and learning from everyone who's posted here.

4. Remember the type def, to keep it strict.
5. Honor the wire and the shift register.

I like the commandments, but I have to confess my ignorance.

"4. Remember the type def, to keep it strict"

Could anyone help me understand why "to keep it strict"?

Good morning Ben,

I'm in the same boat as you. It's the only one that I didn't get.
It must be "thee" one that separateth thee boyz from thee men (or Dennis).

Joe and Ben,

Please take the "commandments" with a big grain of salt;). I refer to a strict type def and the rhythm of the sentence appealed to me more than anything else.
