Labview 2024 Q3 vs Firmware Wizard

Downloaded and installed the Labview 2024 Q3 CE this weekend.  First venture into this programming environment.

The goal is to develop a bidirectional interface with an Arduino Uno. 

In the Firmware Wizard, after a couple unsuccessful go-rounds I did get the Blink test to function.  Having no success in adding an Arduino to a blank Block Diagram page I ventured back to the Firmware Wizard and clicked on the Help button in the bottom left hand corner.

It took me to this webpage: https://www.labviewmakerhub.com/doku.php?id=libraries:linx:start

which carried the following banner in big bold red letters: This site was deprecated on August 1, 2020

The same result was experienced with the link "For more information about LINX visit:"

Has anyone else seen these issues?  It leaves me wondering if its worth learning how to work with this package ... or if I should just move on.

altenbach, thanks for the link, and no, I hadn't seen that one yet. 

I have seen all kinds of install and intro videos and procedures for Labview and the Arduino Uno with some talked about LIFA - which I later discovered has been replaced by LINX.  It was apparent that finding something current was important, so I found and followed this 3 week old video for install and activation: https://youtu.be/QkHfj6w2m7w?si=jeaLHsXMz5M61CvE

Presumably having the download, install and activation complete I started with Step 3 on the webpage you linked.  But I get get stuck at Item 2 on the list: Launch LabVIEW Community Edition and open the Firmware Wizard from Tools»MakerHub»LINX»LINX Firmware Wizard

As you can see, there is no Makerhub option under Tools:

And although the VI Package Manager is on the list - when selected - nothing happens.

You can see why I start to question the merits of Labview when the instructions are not  lining up with reality.

With that in mind, it seems I should probably uninstall what I have here and start over -following the instructions at the link you provided.

Given all this, I'm sure you can see why there's no answer your last question - yet 😉 .

I'll post my positive results when I have them ...

It is now called the Hobbyist toolkit. Have you tried "tools...Hobbyist...Firmware wizard"?

Given that my menu items weren't matching the published procedures or not working at all, it was presumed that it was the installation procedure that I followed that was causing the problem. So - the uninstall is complete - as is the reinstall as per the provided link. 

Now I'm seeing licensing issues:

The previously referenced YouTube video had the user deselect all the optional packages, whereas the OEM procedure makes no such recommendation.

The YouTube procedure produced a 365+ day license, and since I'm only wanting to use LabView as a hobbyist - that worked.  Now I seem to be into a no-go zone - unless there's some other procedure I should be following to achieve that result.

As long as the community edition is activated, you can ignore all these other products. When you downloaded the community edition, were you logged in with the same profile? What do you see if you open the license manager?

Looks like you are all good for a year and all you need to to is renew after that. 😄
