MAXPXITimeoutError

Hi,

Having just installed Labview 2009 SP1 onto a new pc, I find MAX is presenting an error which doesn't make sense.

When selected, MAX starts and appears to be ok. But if the Devices folder is selected, an error dialogue box appears

saying "MaxPXITimeoutError has occured".

The Device folder does not show any devices at all, not even COM1 or LPT1.

The PC has a PCI-6601 card fitted from a previous setup, which I left in and allowed Windows to install the driver.

I've tried starting MAX with the card removed, but the error still occurs.

Whats confusing me is that there is no PXI chassis hardware involved, and this install of Labview/MAX is completely new, onto a new hardrive, i.e. no previous NI installation.

I've also noticed that the MAX - Software folder is not populated with details.

Eventually, after about 2 minutes, the Device folder can be Refreshed (F5) and the devices appear.

These include the PCI-6601 and two USB6501 devices.

Any ideas why this PXI timeout error should appear  for Labview 2009 SP 1 ?

thanks,

Gary.

Hi Gary,

It sound like you have a corrupt install. Was the card in the computer when installing your software?

Could you pleae uninstall and reinstall all of your NI drivers and software with the card removed, ensuring a restart between each install.

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply.

Your absolutely correct the spare card was left in for safe keeping, whilst the software was installed, my mistake.

Will carry out the un-install/install (with the card in a cupboard) after the holidays.

thanks,

Gary.
