Did you know that there is a very easy way to create icons in LabVIEW?
This is my first attempt at a screencast. Anyone know if it is possible to embed a screencast in the forums? I don't think I have ever seen one.

Switch to HTML editing, then paste the "embed" link. It will show as below:

I don't see what this has to do with "creating icons". You're not creating anything, you're just assigning this icon to this VI and that icon to that VI, by dragging them, something LabVIEW has been able to do for 20 years.

Well you are right. It is not technically "creating" the icons but rather asigning them. Maybe you could say the same thing about using the glyphs that ship with LabVIEW?
Even though dragging an image to the icon has been a LabVIEW feature for quite some time there is probably somebody out there who didn't know about it. I don't think sharing tips should be limited to new features

*I* didn't know. So thanks and kudos for this one.
It actually doesn't work directly for me (drop a png from Win Explorer to LV 7.1: first-drag-drop it on the FP, then on the Icon works). That's propably why I wasn't aware of it.
For small tricks, consider posting them to the micro-nugget thread.

Wow, my very own vi named after me, sandwiched in-between Altenback, Darin and Ben. All my dreams are finally coming true
Didn't know you could do this either, nice.

FYI: All I see in Altenbach's message is a big white space after his message text. Most sites that host videos have been blocked here at my workplace, including YouTube, screencast.com, etc.

Agreed!
paraphrasing from Proverbs;
"I wise man goes into his storehouse and brings frth treasures both onld and new."
A clasic "I didn't know that." is being able to control which of the inputs to a two input operator gets wired when doing an "insert" (hold cursor slightly above or below wire).
Another is being able to control which digit of a control increments by moving the cursor in the number and using up/down keys.
Or a control on the root of the BD can help avoid buffer copies...
Although they are not earth shaking, there is no harm in bringing those tips up occationally.
Thanks Steve for your Nuggets!
In my case I always learned something from posting my Nuggets. I hope you reap similar benfits.

My apologies for being grumpy yesterday.
My point was not that such things should not be posted - just that calling it "creating" was misleading and incorrect.
In any case, I'm sorry it came out the way it did.

No offense taken. Bad choice of words but I wasn't trying to be misleading
