NI-DAQmx tools are missing

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi All,

I have installed the latest versions of both NI-DAQmx and NI-DAQmx base softwares. I would like to use the NI-DAQmx tools (as shown in the video tutorial: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5370) but I find only the tools of the base software (screenshot attached). Does anyone know what's the problem?

Thanks!

Hi joonasmikkola,

which version of LabVIEW are you using? Did you install the DAQmx libraries after LabVIEW?

Hi Mike!

Thanks for the reply! I have the latest version (Labview 2009). And yes I installed everything after the Labview.

Hello Joonasmikkola,

It seems that you only have DAQmx Base installed. You should be able to download DAQmx 9.1 (the latest DAQmx driver) here

Once you've downloaded and installed the driver, you would be able to find DAQmx palette as show here

Hi Andy and thank you!

I installed NI-DAQmx after the base-version. I think there is some tricky problem because I tried to do the same with my other computer but I didn't install the base. Everything works fine there. I'm not sure what happens if I install the base too. Anyway for some strange reason the base version seems to hide NI-DAQmx. Or then it should be manually selected somehow instead of the base.

Hello Joonasmikkola,

You should be able to have both DAQmx Base and DAQmx installed on the same PC (I have both in my other computer).

Could you open Measurement and Automation Explorer, Expand the Software Tab, check to see if you see NI-DAQmx listed?

If it is listed, I would try repairing NI-DAQmx from Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Program > National Instruments > NI-DAQmx and do a repair on the driver.

Instead of marking your own post as the solution, Can you kindly mark the post that helped you solve the problem as the solution. You can unmark the solution by going to options (right corner of your message) and then mark the correct one..
