NI Package Manager NI-DAQmx Unable to Write a File

I am trying to install NI-DAQmx v17.0 using the NI Package Manager. When I do so, I get a problem saying that the storage device is out of available space. I have more than enough space on the main C: drive of the computer.

More information might be available in the log files under %localappdata%\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\Logs\ and %localappdata%\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\Logs\NIPkgLogs\. If you share the files that were modified or created during the installation, they might help.

This seems very strange to me.  Can you describe the circumstances?

I'm especially curious about how you started. 

• Did you start with a PC with no LabVIEW versions installed?  If so, what did you initially ask it to install?  Did it include DAQmx?  If it did not, did the first installation work OK?  And, if so, at what point did you ask to install DAQmx (or did you never ask for DAQmx, and NIPM just added it in by itself)?
• If other versions of LabVIEW were already on this PC, what versions were they?  [Please list them all].  Can you start all of them with no errors?  (If so, close them before you try another version).
• I've seen plenty of weird errors with LabVIEW installations, especially in 2017 when NIPM was first released.  It took me more than a year to get a PC built with LabVIEW 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 installed (I was developing with 2015 and 2016, but wanted to move to the newer versions, and NIPM was not very cooperative, shall we say ...).  It has gotten better (somewhat).
