NIMax hangs while "Loading plugins" - How to see logs of NI MAX (NIMax.exe) or mxssvr service

Hello,

I have troubles with opening MAX on one test PC. If I start the MAX 19.6 (Measurement & Automation Explorer) it hangs while "Loading plugins".

As I understand plugins are the installed drivers (like DAQmx).

But at which step does it hang and why?

I already looked into

c:\ProgramData\National Instruments\MAX\Logs

But there is nothing inside which indicates where the problem is.

I hoped to see anything in DebugView but it also tells nothing.

I tried some possible things for hours but with no success.

So my questions:

Is it possible to

* find any logs which driver (plugin) makes trouble

* switch on logs

?

I already installed DAQmx 19.6 with configuration support (means with MAX) (previous I had installed 18.5) but it did not help.

Any idea?

Thank you in advance

Sometimes, for reasons I have yet to fully understand, some services fail to start and you're left with this mess.  Check to see that NI Configuration Manager and NI Device Loader have started.  Some machines have trouble starting these services, identically configured machines might behave differently in this regard.  What seems to help in this case is to set them to auto-start, delayed.  But it doesn't always help.

Good luck!

Thanks Bill!

I want also to activate logs. In LabView you can add this line into Labview.ini

[LabVIEW]
debugging=True

Then it gives you debug / log outputs in DebugView

Perhaps it is also possible to add NIMax.ini in same directory as NIMax.exe and add "debugging=True".

Perhaps it will give logs then after restart...

I will give it a try...

It seems that I get logs !

Here the logs from one other machine, while starting NIMax (here NIMax starts and does not hang) :

@EWiebe

Were you able to resolve the issue with NI MAX hanging at Loading Plugins? I have the same issue.
