Need a Ruska 6200 manual...

Solved!
Go to solution

Hey all, I am doing a project using an old Ruska 6200. It would be very helpful if I had a manual for the thing, but the company (now GE) disavows any knowledge of the box and I can't find one any where online. If someone has a manual for this beast I would be eternally grateful if someone could photocopy the pages related to the serial interface for me...

Hey Mike,

I've sent inquiries to other people to find the manual for you but in the meantime I found this document that may help you at least initiate communication with the Ruska 6200.

Located here, this document says it (or a similar model) communicates through RS232 (ASCII), no handshake, four selectable baud rates (1200-19200 baud), outputs a string in this format 955.38<CR><LF> ("955.38" (in hPa), and goes on to discuss more features of the device.  I hope this helps.  I'll let you know if I'm able to locate the actual manual.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply, I found the same document and from the sound of it, the device can be set to periodically spit out the current pressure reading, but I was wanting to verify that is the case since I also don't have access to the device itself right now...

Hey Mike,

Unfortunately without the manual, it would be difficult to know that for certain unless an individual from our community here knows particular feature of your Ruska device from experience.  I'm still awaiting response from my inquiries and expect it to take longer than usual due to the holiday season, but as mentioned before will let you know as soon as I hear anything about it.

Thanks,

Hey Mike,

That link works but loads really slow for me.  I've attached a saved version of the file for you.

Thanks,

You should probably make your own thread (and reference this one if you want to), since this is a 5 year old thread that has been marked as "solved."
