Nothing shows up in the I/O drop down

Hi,

I am trying to help out a friend at university that is trying to setup OPC server communication to a PLC through a kepware server. We have the kepware server up and running as expected but when I try to add the I/O server for the OPC in labview it is not in the drop down list. In fact there is nothing there (see attached).

At first we thought this was due to license issue (because lets be honest 90% of labview issues are normally license issues) but they have updated all their licenses and I do not believe that to be the issue (see attached document with all the current active licenses on the computer).

I think I read somewhere that you might have to reinstall the DSC module to get them to show up but knowing labview that could take some time to uninstall and reinstall a module. Has anyone ever had this issue or integrated in an OPC server with the I/O server that could provide some insight.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks in advanced for the help!

It looks like theCreate New I/O Server menu is for LabVIEW 2016 but looking at your list of installed software you only have DSC installed and activated for 2014 SP1. If you open LabVIEW 2014 SP1 I imagine the options will be there, otherwise you are going to have to install and activate the DSC module for LabVIEW 2016.

Matt,

I opened it up in 2014 and still nothing shows up. Any other ideas?

Go to Help > About in LabVIEW and check if you are using 2014 or 2014 SP1

The license manager indicates that DSC is activated for 2014 SP1 and the about LabVIEW menu shows that LabVIEW recognizes DSC as being installed (you can mouse over the icon with two computers under LabVIEW). All I can think of, if you haven't already, would be to run a repair on LabVIEW making sure that ADE support for LabVIEW 2014 SP1 is checked. If you have done that or that doesn't change anything I would call into tech support.
