Partial Screen Refresh Problem

Hello,

we have constantly reappearing screen update problem. As
the attached screen shot shows, the right screen portion
is not redrawn. Usually this happens during execution,
but here the application isn't even running.

When this happens, the right scrollbar is displayed wrongly
somewhere in the middle of the screen, usually at a fixed
position. Yesterday, with every start of the applicaytion, it
moved more and more to the left. But the attached screen
shot doesn't show this.

There seems to be a correlation with the total complexity
of the application. Initially this was believed to be a cause of
a bad cut & paste operation. But with attemps to go back
to stable VIs, the problems always come back sooner
or later.

We have now upgraded to the german LabView 8.2.1, but the
problem came up already with LabView 8.2. We haven't worked
with older versions.

The PC is a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz with 1GB Ram and W2K SP4.

Hello,

I have attached a more classical screen shot.

There was a hint to change the window size to "not full size" and back again (Ctrl /).

This correctly refreshes the screen but doen't work permanently for the VI.

Are you by any chance using tab controls? If, so this is a known problem with earlier releases of V8 and can be fixed by rebuilding the top-level VI in 8.2.1.

If not this is something new. Can you isolate what is triggering the effect?

Hello,

> Are you by any chance using tab controls?

No. 🙂 But I had to make sure that I found the correct german version of the tab controls. 😉

> can be fixed by rebuilding the top-level VI in 8.2.1.

The main-VI is nearly constantly modified and thus often rebuilt (I hope).

> Can you isolate what is triggering the effect?

II fear that the effect is just "there."

What's funny about it, is that the hint was from people working with LabView intensively. So they knew about it. But on the other hand I have not really seen a similar posting yet.

Hi,

I get the same problem of screen refreshing.  The problem repeats in different PCs too.  However, the associated block diagrams are safe and the functioning of the VI is not affected.

Kindly see attached screen-shots...  Ignore those disabled 'Digital Out' areas.  Note that the problem can occur even when the VI is in edit mode (screen3.jpg).

I am using LabView 8.2 Full Dev System.

The problem starts surfacing only when I use 'counter input' via DAQ Assistant.  This may or may not be the trigger but that is the only difference I note among those good and bad VIs..

Chand.

I am also having an identical problem.  Not only does the right part of the screen not refresh, but I don't get a scrollbar unless I make resize the window to half my screen's resolution.  My UI is very large and I must scroll (even on a 24 inch monitor).   I don't recall making any changes to the program so this issue simply came up one day and has recurred more and more often since then.

Any other clues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dhimiter

Hello Mike. I have exactly the same ''tab-control problem'' in LV 8.2.1 you mentioned. Lower part of my screen doesn't update when I change

tab-control pages. But can you tell me what did you mean by ''can be fixed by rebuilding the top-level VI''? This is not just re-save, isn't it?

I really need to fix this. Thank you.
