All three signal amplitudes  get a sign wether in phase or ~180° out of phase in relation to the excitation.  After that decision the signal phase is not needed anymore, because the amplitude (ratios) together with it's sign and the mechanical fixed 2pi/3 angles of the synchro define the absolute position.

 

The wrap in -90° to 270° and > 90°  part could be rewritten as: wrap the phase in 0° to 360° , if phase in range of < 90° or >270° decide to be in phase, out of phase for the rest. Or any other method to cut the circle  into  two halfs...
