Possible bug for NI Package Manager + Removed Report Generation Toolkit

Solved!
Go to solution

Interesting Behavior: Recently installed LabVIEW 2018, and used the NI Package manager to remove "LabVIEW 2018 Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office" because I don't use it and I don't have a licence (and I don't want to click through the LabVIEW Licencing Wizard all week).

After Successfully uninstalling the Package, LV 2016 does not show the Licensing Wizard but LV2018 Still Shows the Licensing Wizard on each launch of LabVIEW.

See inline (and attached for archiving) screenshot:

LV 2018 still launches Licensing Wizard for "LabVIEW 2018 Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office" despite removing the package with NI Package Manager. (note these are both running for taking the screen shot but uninstall was done previously/separately.LV 2018 still launches Licensing Wizard for "LabVIEW 2018 Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office" despite removing the package with NI Package Manager. In case anyone else is searching this issue, here are my findings:

This problem 'went away' when the trial period for Microsoft Report Generation Toolkit (MRGT) expired and the NI Licensing Wizard (NILW) was no longer invoked as LV2018 started up. I was never able to get the NILW to recognize the Package was no longer installed on my system.

While this issues was 'solved on its own' a number of frustrating issues persisted for the first week of LV2018 being installed because of this:

  • LabVIEW CLI Would crash during the first week of using LV2018 because of this. CLI would Call LV2018, which would not respond as the NILW waited for user input. It would be IDEAL for the NILW to accept the status quo when LV2018 is invoked from he command line.
  • Windows UI Scaling was buggy for apps (LV2018) launched from the NILW. Window Size would not scale but text size would scale to the UI scale setting.

All in all these issues can be resolved by waiting for the trial period to expire, OR by uninstalling LV2018 and re-installing specifically without the Report Generation Toolkit.
